How to assign an Amazon account to a Kindle 3 Keyboard I purchased a deceased person’s Kindle (not a Kindle 3) at a car boot sale and deregistered without using a password. It should be noted you don’t require access to a person’s Amazon account if you’re deregistering via the Kindle itself. You can also deregister a Kindle 3 via the Amazon website. From the ‘Deregister Your Kindle’ pop-up, again select ‘deregister’, to confirm you wish to unlink this Kindle from an Amazon account.From the ‘Settings’ menu, select ‘deregister’.If you’ve got a Kindle ereader, please leave a comment at the bottom. I didn’t write this guide quickly, but took my time and I hope you find it useful. I place my ebooks into categories, kept the software up-to-date, did a jailbreak in June 2020 and now my screen saver is the book cover of the ebook I’m currently reading. I mostly keep the wifi off, don’t listen to music and I’ve not had a need to replace the battery yet. This is a third generation Kindle released in 2010 and I’ve been happily using my Kindle 3 for a decade. My father gave me a refurbished Amazon Kindle Keyboard 3G + WiFi many years ago and I was so impressed, that I purchased my fiancée the Kindle Keyboard WiFi.
